Pretty cool vibe in a lesser known neighborhood. My favorites were the nigiris. Would definitely go for those although def a bit more pricey!!! Did not like the fresh spring rolls as much personally. Service was good. Didn’t feel pressured to overorder which I greatly appreciated. All the normal sushi was delicious as well. I’d call Laughing Monk a hidden gem more people should know about!
Laughing Monk was terrific! We started with salmon and fried tofu hand rolls which were great with the different kinds of homemade dipping sauces. We also had the edamame lightly salted- perfect! For meals we had the yellow curry chicken and added on some white rice- very delicious flavor and not too spicy! We also tried a few sushi rolls- spicy tuna (real chunks with jalapeños!), shrimp tempura, and crispy. They were all fantastic and the service was great. I highly recommend this hidden gem!
We made a dinner reservation on a Saturday and were seated immediately. We chose to sit at the sushi bar and are so happy we did. Seeing chef Nick prepare nigiri was a real treat. We ordered some pad see ew and it was very good however the sushi really blew us away. At first I was hesitant about ordering their sushi because they use brown rice which isn’t traditional but somehow it really worked. Their special nigiri pieces are not only beautiful, they were delicious. Each piece is pretty expensive but sometimes you just have to treat yourself!
